About LANO
The Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) is a statewide network of nonprofits, foundations, corporations and individuals dedicated to supporting Louisiana's nonprofit sector. LANO’s mission is to strengthen, promote and build the capacity of nonprofits through education, advocacy and member services.
LANO operates from offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport, with frequent travel to cities and parishes across the state. Our services to nonprofit organizations and professionals include:
- Trainings, workshops and seminars
- Technical assistance
- Organizational capacity building
- Networking and promotional opportunities
- Research and information resources
- Public policy monitoring, reporting and advocacy
- Membership benefits and discounts
In November of 2009, after conducting a statewide listening tour with members and key stakeholders, LANO restructured and refocused its mission. As an organization, we have dedicated ourselves to improving member services and bringing to our state's nonprofit sector the benefits of greater accountability, strategic collaboration and a unified voice . We invite you to join Louisiana’s only statewide association of
nonprofits and help enrich the lives of the millions our sector serves each year.
LANO was founded by the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL) after extensive planning. In 1999, LANO separately incorporated and received its 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS. Our Board of Directors represents all sectors of Louisiana’s nonprofit community and every geographic region. LANO is certified by the National Standards for
Excellence and founder of the Louisiana Standards for Excellence. LANO is a member of the National Council of Nonprofits (NCN).
