Louisiana Nonprofit Sector Fiscal Health Report
There is no doubt that the economic downturn threatens the well-being of Louisiana’s nonprofit sector. The Louisiana Nonprofit Sector Fiscal Health Report and the Regional Data Supplement describe the impact of the recession on Louisiana’s nonprofits and gauges
trends and projections for the coming year.
The survey data clearly indicates that Louisiana nonprofits are feeling the effects of shrinking pools of funding, decreases in charitable giving, state budget cuts, rising costs to operate, and increase demand for services. In the face of these challenges, Louisiana nonprofit organizations are demonstrating their tenacity, resilience and innovation.
The Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) and Capital One Bank are pleased to provide a snapshot of the state of the nonprofit sector in this troubled economy. The economic debate in Louisiana cannot afford to overlook the vital nature of this independent nonprofit sector. Nonprofit organizations, funders, policymakers, the business community, and residents must understand that impact of the recession on the nonprofit sector so that they can plan and develop solutions together to address the challenges and embrace the opportunities resulting from the current
economic climate.
