Public Policy

LANO represents the interests of nonprofit organizations at the local, state and federal government levels. The goals of LANO’s Public Policy program are to:

  • educate nonprofits about the pertinent issues that will impact them,
  • track legislation and advocate on the sector’s behalf, and to
  • build the sector’s advocacy capacity so that nonprofits can effectively engage in influencing policy.

Our public policy program educates, informs and engages our membership in advocacy, both to empower nonprofits and also to encourage LANO's members to get involved in relevant public policy issues.

LANO's public policy unit houses the Louisiana Budget Project, as well as policy efforts at the state and federal level, and coalition building.
