LANO North in Shreveport

LANO North provides high-quality training, technical assistance and community development services to the nonprofit community in Shreveport and throughout North Louisiana. Having an office in the north enables LANO to engage more fully in local communities and the nonprofit sector. Most importantly, we can now interact with our members more frequently.

Our capacity building staff in Shreveport works to engage the communities in North Louisiana and support our members through trainings, technical assistance and the resource development. 

LANO members in North Louisiana can take advantage of our computer lab where, through a partnership with the Foundation Center, we have the most updated resources on grant funding in the nation. Additionally, a conference room and training room are available for use by the community.

The Shreveport office also supports the statewide efforts of LANO’s many ongoing programs, including Standards for Excellence training, disaster preparedness and advocacy.  LANO North initiated the Community Leaders Program, helping to raise up the next generation of leaders to move the nonprofit sector forward.

LANO, The Community Foundation and Capital One conducted a Shreveport-Bossier Nonprofit Fiscal Checkup survey to provide direction for nonprofits and funders as agencies grapple with potential budget cuts that threaten their continued service to area communities. The goal is to better identify and leverage available resources in order to meet what some providers are already describing as a growing demand for aid.

Key findings include:

• 69% of nonprofits expect an increased need for their services in the next six months.
• These organizations expect the need for their services to increase 28%.
• 47% of organizations expect a decrease in their budget next year.
• These organizations expect an average funding decrease of 21%.
