Occupation: Editor-in-Chief of Xabition & Xabition.com

Education: B.S. in Bio-Chemistry, B.A. in English; B.A. in Public Relations; all received from Stanford University

Organizational Interest: Arts, Culture, and Humanities; Education; Public/Society Benefit

Skills: Entrepreneurship; Event Planning; Public Relations; Volunteerism

Community Connections: Media; Small Business

Sean Simms, was born and bred in Hancock Park, California.  Being the only progeny of two Stanford graduates, it was imperative that he received the best education that his parents could afford, so at the age of five, he was enrolled in Primrose Prepatory Academy; a private boarding school of the privileged.  He lived at school, returning home only on holidays and a few weeks in the summer.  His school situation afforded him, not only a great education, but instilled independence and self reliance.

Upon graduating, as valedictorian, it was no question that he would follow in his parents’ footsteps, enrolling in Stanford University.  Both of his parents were science majors, so he made Bio-Chemistry his, with the hopes of one day going to medical school.  Along the way, his passion for literature and writing led him to a double major in English.  As an incentive, with the English major, he realized that if he took just a few more courses he could also get a degree in Public Relations, which he did.  Sean graduated Summa Cum Laude, and enrolled in John’s Hopkins Medical School.  Unfortunately, Gross Anatomy showed him that he didn’t have the stomach to pursue a career in the medical field. Therefore, much to his parents’ chagrin, he dropped out after completing one year.

Aimless and confused about where life would lead him, Sean left the country to tour Europe and Asia, looking for guidance.  During his excursion, his eyes were opened, and he got to see how other people lived, and realized how blessed and lucky he was.  He vowed, one day, to give back and help as many people as he could.

Returning to the States, still confused about his career path, he contacted his best friend, Imani Hollins, a fellow LANO member, who encouraged him to come to Louisiana and figure out what to do.  He knew that he loved to write and that his guilty pleasure was fashion, so he decided to combine the two and start his own magazine.  The startup costs were astronomical, so he decided to take his venture online, and thus, Xabition.com was born.  Its companion, Xabition, a fashion newsletter, is distributed in beauty salons, and the like.

n an effort to give back to the community, he volunteers at the Bossier City Lighthouse, and Xabition offers free makeovers to those who want to better themselves.  His is always looking for ways to help those in need, and through LANO, he hopes that he can achieve his charitable goals.
