Community Leaders Program
Nonprofit organizations rely on the leadership and expertise of their board of directors. LANO believes there is an untapped source of energetic individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds who would contribute much toward building more vibrant, sustainable communities. The Community Leadership Institute encourages individuals to help nonprofits succeed by expanding their role as a community leader.
These organizations and, more specifically, their boards are looking for a few good men and women. LANO invites visionary leaders to the table to become civically engaged through the completion of training in board responsibilities and ultimately, placement on the boards of directors of selected nonprofits.
Through its Community Leadership Institute, LANO will provide in-depth board training based on the Louisiana Standards for Excellence. The Louisiana Standards for Excellence model is used to assist Louisiana nonprofits in becoming well-managed, well-governed organizations. By completing trainings based on the Standards model, participants will have a grounding in optimum nonprofit operations as they subsequently help guide nonprofit organizations as board members.
