This message is on behalf of Joann Ricci, VP of Organizational Effectiveness for the Greater New Orleans Foundation.
Hello Nonprofit Colleagues, Over the past year the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Organizational Effectiveness Initiative has offered numerous workshops and learning opportunities to the local nonprofit community. Our newest offering is Succession Planning 101, and we are inviting you and a board member from your organization to attend.
For Succession Planning 101 we will delve into a case study on a local nonprofit, Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools, which is deep in the transition and succession process of their founder/executive director. We will explore the path they took in their planning and transition process and hear from a panel comprised of their founder and executive director, Jane Wholey, incoming director, Thena Robinson, and a board member, Pam Stevens. Additionally, we will share literature from the field on transitions and succession planning.
After this initial convening, we will keep the discussion going during two to three follow-up conversations over the summer that will dive deeper into transition practices, approaches and concerns. Dates TBD.
We hope that you can join us on Wednesday, June 27 from 8:15 a.m. – noon at the Greater New Orleans Foundation for this learning event. You may RSVP by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Promising practice in leadership transitions suggest that the board of an organization be involved, so we are encouraging organization board leaders to be present. Let us know if you plan to bring a board member. (Please note: this invitation is not transferable to another staff member and is for Executive Directors only.) Feel free to reach out with any questions.
