Nonprofits Sought for Model Smoking Cessation Program

Posted By Matthew Mullenix, Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Monday, July 22, 2013

The March of Dimes Louisiana Chapter is seeking eligible and qualified nonprofit organizations to implement a model smoking cessation program for pregnant women entitled, "Baby & Me - Tobacco Free.” The "Baby & Me – Tobacco Free” model is an evidenced-based, incentive-based program utilizing the 5As counseling approach to assist pregnant women in quitting smoking and to help them stay tobacco-free after the birth of their baby.

Baby & Me – Tobacco Free uses a unique approach, combining cessation support specific to pregnant women, offering practical incentives, targeting low-income women (the largest group of smokers during pregnancy), and monitoring success.

All questions regarding the March of Dimes Smoking Cessation Request for Proposals should be directed to Makesha Judson, State Director of Program Services at (225) 249-5080 or via email at
