‘NOAGE GOES TO VEGAS’ GALA TO BENEFIT NEW ORLEANS ADVOCATES FOR GLBT ELDERS

Costuming, Live Entertainment, Food, Drinks, and Music at Rosy’s Jazz Hall on Friday, November 25, 2016

NOAGE’s second annual gala features a Las Vegas theme. Guests are encouraged (but not required) to dress as their favorite Vegas stars. There will be live entertainment, music, food, and drinks. There will also be Vegas-style games to play. All funds raised will benefit NOAGE, which provides programming and services for LGBT older adults and their healthcare providers.

New Orleans Advocates for GLBT Elders (NOAGE), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was created from a steering committee of concerned residents and older adult service providers to address the challenges facing LGBT older adults in the New Orleans area.  LGBT older adults often face discrimination when seeking medical treatment, have a higher rate of poverty, are sometimes isolated after the loss of a significant other, and often feel the need to go back into the closet when living in a long term care facility.

NOAGE hosts monthly “Coffee Talks,” movie nights, and other socialization and educational events for LGBT older adults in the New Orleans area.  NOAGE also works to increase the cultural competency of providers through trainings and workshops facilitated by NOAGE volunteers. As advocates on behalf of the LGBT older adult community, NOAGE is committed to ensuring that all LGBT older adults can live their best lives with the dignity and respect that they deserve.

The gala will be held at Rosy’s Jazz Hall at 500 Valence Street in New Orleans on Friday, November 25, 2016, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Tickets are $40.00 each. To purchase tickets, call (504)517-2345. For more information about NOAGE, please visit www.noagenola.org.
