Dr. Cory Sparks leads LANO's training curricula and our efforts in the Greater New Orleans area to expand and strengthen service to hundreds of regional nonprofits.

Dr. Sparks brings years of executive leadership experience to this position, with demonstrated excellence as a public speaker, educator, fund raiser, and a community activist and organizer.

He holds degrees from Columbia University, Southern Methodist University and a Doctorate in American History from Louisiana State University. Dr. Sparks's board leadership includes a current position on the Board of Directors for the Asssociation of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), New Orleans Chapter.

 

LANO will host the first in a series of trainings for nonprofit leaders in north Louisiana.

 


Dr. Cory Sparks, Director of LANO New Orleans, will be at Community Central in Shreveport on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM.

 


The training topic will be Financial Management for Nonprofit Organizations: Minimizing Risk and Maximizing Accountability and Transparency.

Participants will learn best practices in nonprofit accounting and financial management.

Information will be presented on:

Accountability

Internal controls and mitigating risk

Policies and procedures required by the IRS and most funders

PLUS: Participants will receive a bound booklet of tips and tools on engaging the Board of Directors in the budgeting process and interpreting financial statements.
