Many volunteer groups will combine over the course of 3 days to build and install playground equipment and structures at The Emerge Center.
Jobs include assembling numerous play structures of various shapes and sizes, with printed instructions. A professional playground build supervisor will be on hand at all times.
Community Need: The Emerge Center (formerly Baton Rouge Speech & Hearing Foundation) is a great asset to our community. It’s a nonprofit Capital Area United Way community partner, offering cutting edge therapy and services to residents of a large part of South Louisiana. Involvement will be a great way to showcase your team’s dedication to community service.
Volunteers Needed: We are requesting each volunteer group to choose either Saturday or Sunday. * Please let us know soon which day your group would prefer to volunteer. The goal is 50 volunteers each day. We’ll be glad to accept however many volunteers are interested in joining us! Each group may decide if it would like to break volunteers into 2 shifts throughout the day, or if you’d prefer to manage volunteers in full day shifts. No special skills are required – all volunteers welcome - but playground/ construction experience would be very beneficial.
Resources Required: Volunteers are asked to bring basic tools as available, such as shovels, wheelbarrows, wrenches/sockets, post hole diggers. Lunch and drinks will be provided. We request each group designate a "team captain” to attend a pre-build meeting the night of Thursday, Feb. 20.
