Communication is about more than just talking and listening - it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language. As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect.

Join us Saturday, August 20, 2016, for an education program on effective communication strategies hosted by Little Farms United Church of Christ, located at 135 Sauve Road, River Ridge, LA 70123 (map). Check-in and refreshments will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. The program will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Our education programs are free and open to the public. For more information or to register, please call 1-800-272-3900.

We will explore how communication take place when someone has Alzheimer's, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communication at each stage of the disease.
