Not sure how to leverage a small marketing budget?  By being creative, analyzing the media and trends, researching your demographics and planning ahead, marketing and advertising can be successfully achieved, even on a shoestring budget. In this presentation, learn how to create comprehensive plan that will maximize your budget, take advantage of free opportunities and convince your boss to invest in your efforts.

 

9:15 – 10:15 - Brew at the Zoo: Creating a sellout fundraising event with little to no budget and a shoestring staff :Kaki Haligenthal, Baton Rouge Zoo Marketing and Development Director


Challenged with launching a new fundraiser for your organization without any real resources to support it? Hear from the Baton Rouge Zoo as they outline how they went about creating a fundraiser in less than six months with a skeleton staff and limited financial resources. Topics of discussion will include an insider’s look at the structure of Brew at the Zoo, how to build your dream team and leveraging the support of partners and sponsors.


10:30-11:30 – Producing a Fundraising Video:  Marc Goldstein, Owner Creative Video


The use of video in your messaging has become a necessary element in your communication package.  It's consistent, deliverable with one click and adaptable from year to year.  It can be a simple message, a regular update to givers, an ask or a thank you.  Each organization has its own special personality and approach to fundraising, so each video should be tailored for them. This hour will discuss how to go about producing a video and getting the most out of your investment.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, tumblr,  Google+, Youtube – just to name a few. What are some of the key methods for engaging an audience that uses their smart phone as a lifeline? Learn about writing, use of images, hashtags and timeliness for creating the most engaging posts to captivate your audience.


1:30 – 2:30 –Getting Your Message out to the Media: Bob Johannessen, Director of Communications Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals


This workshop will teach you how to understand and work with the news media
