How it Works:
Local media outlets (TV, radio, print, outdoor, etc.) along with creative firms and industry service companies (ad agencies, graphic designers, interactive companies, printers, etc.) donate media packages and/or services to AAF-BR. AAF-BR invites local media buyers, small businesses and nonprofits in for a chance to bid on the items.
The Media Auction is an important fundraiser that not only provides our organization with valuable funding for our programs and services, but also aims to create new business opportunities for media donors through new businesses bidding on your items in the auction.
The Media Auction will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at The Breakroom (downtown above Restaurant IPO). It will begin with cocktails at 5:30 with the media auction commencing at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Restaurant IPO will provide complementary food and beverages.
What it Funds:
The AAF-BR scholarship program, which honors a stellar college student each year. Our incredible “Ahead of the Curve” Student Conference open to college students from across South Louisiana. This one-day event held at LSU features a variety of local speakers, panels, student portfolio reviews and more all performed by volunteer industry professionals.
Support of LSU’s National Student Advertising Competition team as they travel annually to compete at the AAF Seventh District Spring Conference.
Our Campaign for Community program where AAF-BR creatives form a mini-agency to produce a wide range of communications items for a deserving nonprofit including: logos, brochures, websites, social media strategies and more.
Professional development to bring high-quality, out-of-market luncheon speakers to educate local industry professionals—in many cases some of your employees—on regional and national advertising trends. Support for the national efforts of the American Advertising Federation, which include opposing limits on advertising opportunities, taxation on our industry and more.
In addition to raising money to support our organization, we hope to expose your business to new customers—companies and organizations that might not normally advertise or believe they could afford your product. Perhaps it’s a nonprofit that can use discounted services or media to help communicate with their target audience.
This year we are also inviting representatives from every company that donates an item to attend the auction and introduce/sell their item. Other district clubs have found this actually proved very beneficial because they spoke to the power of the item up for bid—something the auctioneer wouldn’t necessarily have known—thus generating more interest and new bidders.
Here’s our proposal to you:
We are seeking your support through the active donation of media space, items, events or services. You will receive two complimentary tickets to the event. Please feel free to bring copies of media kits and/or promotional items to to share with attendees.
We have enclosed a form for submitting your donation to the media auction this year. Please focus on stating the benefit and reach/demographics of your product. We should have as much selling information as possible. Please feel free to attach any marketing fliers that you would normally include with a product demonstration. This will go into the packet for bidders.
Additional donation forms can be downloaded from the AAF-BR website, www.aafbr.org
Please also consider “Starter” packages for new and smaller advertisers, so that potential customers might have an easier time trying your product.
Forms should be emailed back to your auction representative. Any presentations/detail about the items for the auction to be considered can be included in that email as well.
Please email donations no later than Friday, September 23, 2016.
In advance, we want to thank you for supporting AAF-BR. It is your help that keeps us a valuable resource for the advertising and marketing community.
