SHREVEPORT—The Community Foundation of North Louisiana and the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations have strengthened a longtime partnership by jointly funding a new staff position that will expand services to Foundation grantees, local LANO member organizations and the nonprofit community at large.
Kay Irby, Director of Nonprofit Leadership Development for the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations and the Community Foundation of North Louisiana
The position, Director of Nonprofit Leadership Development, will be held by Kay Irby, whose name and expertise are familiar within regional nonprofit circles. Irby has been the face of LANO in Shreveport since 2006, where she has served as Director of the association's regional office and chief liaison to nonprofits in need of organizational development and training.
In her new partnership capacity, Irby will be working from Community Foundation headquarters at 401 Edwards Street in Shreveport but will maintain her existing LANO phone number (318.865.5510 ext. 1) and email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
According to the partner organizations, the new position will maintain LANO-related responsibilities as regional member services coordinator and director of the Community Leaders program, an annual training series funded in part by a multi-year Community Foundation grant, that readies a diverse population of young professionals for exceptional nonprofit board service.
Additional responsibilities of the new position will include creating and managing collaborative efforts that increase community impact; coordination of work to improve nonprofit outcomes; conducting site visits and one-on-one consulting with Foundation grantee organizations, and providing analysis of community and nonprofit needs to the betterment of Foundation investments.
Community Foundation Executive Director Paula Hickman welcomes Irby as a strong addition to an effective and powerful partnership with LANO. "In this day of limited resources, we are especially pleased to find creative collaborations that enhance our work and the community we serve. We hope that this alliance will demonstrate to other nonprofits the advantages that can be gained by working together,” said Hickman. LANO President and CEO Ann S. Williamson echoes praise for Irby and for the multi-facetted partnership. "This move strengthens both organizations," said Williamson, "and advances each of our missions to the benefit of Louisiana nonprofits."
