LANO Joins National Online Member Benefits Program

BATON ROUGE (UPDATED Dec. 9, 2013) —Members of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations can now participate in a national discount program that includes savings on thousands of recognized brand name products and services.
The program, called Member Rewards, can lower overhead costs for staff travel, lodging, meals, communications, retail supplies, information technology, entertainment, employee fitness and other expenses.
All LANO network members are eligible for the new discount program, courtesy a partnership with LANO’s contracted database management service, YourMembership.com.
Users signed in to LANO.org can click the Member Rewards icon for exclusive access to discounts in numerous service categories. Familiar brands include communications products by Sprint and T-Mobile, consumer goods from Target and Sam's Club, computer equipment by Dell and HP, and fleet maintenance services from Firestone Complete Auto Care.
LANO Vice President Matt Mullenix notes that operational expenses can tip any nonprofit into insolvency. LANO recommends a concerted approach to cost savings that includes strategic partnerships, pro bono and volunteer support, and appropriate outsourcing.
"Combined with other measures, discounts on recurring expenses can significantly improve the bottom line for nonprofits, schools and small businesses alike,” said Mullenix.
The Member Rewards program is an optional benefit of LANO membership. Participants pay a one-time charge of $19.95 for individual access to program discounts that will continue for one year after initiation. Ten percent of the participation fee returns to LANO to offset costs for web hosting and database management.
