BATON ROUGE—After four years as President and CEO of the
Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Ann S. Williamson has
accepted an opportunity to serve Utah Governor Gary Herbert as Executive
Director of Human Services, a cabinet-level position.
Williamson's public service prior to joining LANO
included top-level positions in Louisiana's state social services agency under
three consecutive administrations.
head of LANO, she steered the nonprofit and its members through a
transformational period in which the organization expanded service and
statewide membership in an environment of shrinking resources.
In a statement, Williamson acknowledged the dedication
and hard work of the LANO staff, past and present, and the encouraging
leadership of the Board of Directors through a period of extreme challenge for
Louisiana's philanthropic sector.
Working together, LANO's staff and Board repositioned the association to
offer more services and higher-impact results to a wider constituency that now
includes Louisiana businesses, government agencies, educational institutions
and thousands of service-minded citizens.
As a growing multi-sector community of over 12,000,
LANO's statewide network improves local nonprofit service through the
association's training and consulting resources, partnership development opportunities
and shared communication tools.
"My years with LANO have been enriching,
and the honor of advancing our mission will forever inspire my longtime
commitment to community work,” said Williamson.
"I hope and expect the collaborative spirit now driving LANO will
continue to grow as a service to the people of Louisiana."
Williamson described leading Utah's
Department of Human Services as an opportunity to apply the skills and
experience she's gained at LANO and in similar public service roles with the
State of Louisiana. "It is the kind of work, with the resources and
scope, that best suits my
abilities. I believe this is the right move for my family and me,” she
Chairman Tony Frey said, "We thank Ann for her exceptional service and wish her
well in her next endeavor.”
LANO's Board has named current Vice President Matt Mullenix to serve as
will turn its immediate attention to identifying the
organization's next permanent leader. Williamson will assist in the transition
and continue her service as CEO through October 20.
