The National Association of State Charity Officials (NASCO) and National Association of Attorneys General will hold a joint conference this October highlighting the emergence and potential hazards of online charitable fundraising.

Louisiana Assistant Attorney General Susan Heard Crawford recommends the conference to state nonprofit professionals as a source of important and timely information from the regulatory community.

According to NASCO, technological advances that offer nonprofits new online fundraising and service delivery tools raise important questions for charities and regulatory agencies alike: "What are charities' responsibilities in the use of new technology, and how should regulators respond to protect the public and charitable organizations from fraud and deception?"

The joint conference, to be called Nonprofit Regulation in a Time of New Ideas, will be held October 3, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Silver Spring, Maryland.  For more information, contact NASCO President Bob Carlson (bob.carlson@ago.mo.gov) or visit: http://www.nasconet.org/NASCO%20Conference
