LANO will provide fund development and board governance consulting services to member Woodlands Conservancy through an Every Day Grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation. The grant, with generous support from Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc., provides funds to strengthen organizations and unleash their potential to serve their public lands.

Woodlands Conservancy was formed in 2001 to promote smart growth and establish greenways and trails in lower coast Algiers and Belle Chasse. The area is one of Southeastern Louisiana's last remaining coastal forests. The conservancy has established over 12-miles of interpretive trails and interpretive kiosks within 609 acres of forest that they support. As improvements are made, their need to increase funding sources has become increasingly apparent.

"We're ready for our Board of Directors to get more engaged in our fund development efforts,” said Executive Director Katie Brasted. "We're excited to be working with LANO to help build the system and tools that will enable our organization to grow and sustain itself for the future.”

LANO will conduct a governance assessment that will assist the board in creating a plan for strengthening its operations. One component will be identifying and recruiting additional board members. Fund development training will result in the creation of a case statement and a marketing package for individuals, corporations and foundations.
