LANO's 2012 Public Policy Institute begins next week, March 8-9.
As nonprofits' funding cycles get underway, LANO encourages all to take this opportunity to meet the foundation leaders who want to partner with nonprofits statewide to create a better Louisiana.
In the panel discussion, "Funders Perspective: Community Development Initiatives," representatives from Entergy’s School Zone Initiative, the Ford Metropolitan Opportunities Initiative and Foundation for Louisiana will address the need for "an holistic approach to solving systemic problems, and the need to create economic and wealth building opportunities in under-resourced communities."
Morgan Stewart is the Manager of External Affairs at Entergy Louisiana and heads up their Entergy School Zone Initiative. Morgan will share information on this "place-based" initiative, how it came to be, and what we can do to pursue similar programs in our communities.
Ryan Albright is the Program Officer for the Ford Metropolitan Opportunities Initiative with the Greater New Orleans Foundation. He will present on Ford’s Initiative, the current programs they are funding along with the successful strategies that have been employed.
Eric Shaw is the Vice President of Programs and Policy for the Foundation for Louisiana. Eric leads all of the Foundation’s programmatic initiatives, including grantmaking, advocacy support and policy work. He will be discussing how the Foundation partners with other community organizations to realize a larger and integrated community development strategy.
