2016 Legislative Special Session
Share |

The Louisiana Legislature carried some changes for the sector regarding state sales tax. Some items that were previously classified as exclusions and exemptions are now actively taxable by HB 61 (Act 25) and HB 62 (Act 26).

As of April 1, 2016 various events sponsored nonprofit, charitable, religious or educational organizations will be subject to a 5% sales tax through June 30, 2016.  Organizations who previously received an approved Application for Exemption from Collection of Louisiana Sales Tax at Certain Fundraising Activities (Form R-1048) for an event held after 4/1/2016 is no longer valid.
