Asking someone for a large donation can make a huge difference for your nonprofit- and it can also be scary!

This workshop covers the basics of major donor development: how to identify your donors, ways to build strong relationships with prospects, and what to say (and not say!) when asking for a big donation. 

Attendees will receive a certificate of participation for completing the workshop.

Registration $35.  Discounts available for students, AmeriCorps members and for organizations registering two or more people.

AIE NEEDS YOU! Join us as we engage with school leaders, agency personnel and community members across the state to advance innovative policies and programs that can improve our public schools and better outcomes for tens of thousands of Louisiana students.  

Advance Innovative Education seeks to expand its Board of Directors by 3-4 positions, with special interest in candidates representing Louisiana's Northwest, Central and Capitol Area regions.

Candidates with expertise in education administration, financial management, Louisiana law, and those with school-age children are especially welcome to apply.

OUR MISSION: To promote urgent, systemic change in education by undertaking reform initiatives that deliver dramatically improved teacher and school leader performance, and by developing strong partnerships to increase student success and ultimately enhance the quality of life for all.

Pedaling 4 a Purpose: Bike Against Bullying

Pedaling 4 a Purpose: Bike Against Bullying is a fundraising event to benefit Northshore Families Helping Families. The event aligns with Bullying Awareness Month. As you know, individuals with disabilities are frequently subject to this menacing behavior.

The leisurely ride will begin at the Koop Drive Trailhead. It will go to the Mandeville Trailhead and back, totaling about 8.5 mile. The event will conclude at 1:00 pm.

No bike, no problem! Walk, jog or simply come support the cause! Go whatever distance you like!

There will be a scavenger hunt and a variety of children's activities throughout the duration of the event. Lunch and refreshments will be available.

Registration for individuals 10 and older will be available for $20 per person. Children under 10 may register for $10. T-shirts will be available for participants.

Teams are encouraged to form and compete for prizes in the following categories:

Most Money Raised, Most Members, and Best Team Name. Get creative and we hope to see you there!

LSU Continuing Education hosts Grant Writing Seminar

LSU's Department of Continuing Education is sponsoring a two-day, interactive Grant Writing Seminar, Oct. 21-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 1.2 CEU'S will be given for this Interactive Workshop.

Major topics to be presented include:

- Local, Regional & Federal Grants
Gain in-depth insight into the world of state and federal grants. Provide definitions and requirements local, regional, and federal grants.

- Organizational Funding & Community Needs
Learn to review organization’s budget and understand where grants fit into budgetary projections and portfolio. Understand how the grant will impact or provide positive outcomes in the community.

- Grant Proposal & Application Requirements
Develop the proposal by learning to ask the subjective and objective questions from the grantor point of view.

- Improving Grant Writing Skills
Increase knowledge of the language involved in a grant to better prepare the writer, or the writing team.

- Data Research & Collection
Explore various types of online data repositories, research tools, and how to expertly collect, analyze and report the data necessary for a successful grant award.

- Effective Proposal Writing: Narrative, Budget, Objectives, Goals, Impact Measurements, Quality Assurance & Evaluations
Learn through interactive activities how to appropriately write each section of a grant.

- Building Effective Relationships with the Funder
Learn how to insure the relationship is relevant to organizational or corporate entity needs.

5th Annual MetroMorphosis Social Innovation Summit

LANO Members are cordially invited to attend the 5th Annual MetroMorphosis Social Innovation Summit to be held on Friday, October 31s t from 8am – 12pm. This year’s summit will be located at the Lod Cook Hotel & Conference Center on the campus of LSU at 3838 W Lakeshore Dr.

The summit seeks to advance collective impact and provide a framework for high performing organizations that applies to both the non-profit and for-profit sectors through a clear and thoughtful discussion on innovation, leadership, collaboration, collective impact and high performance.

Dr. James P. Honan, a senior lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School and Graduate School of Education will serve as the guest speaker for the day. Workshops will be led by Harvard ALI fellows and members from the Baton Rouge community that include: John Spain Executive Vice-President of Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Erin Wesley-Monroe Vice-President of Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Darrin Goss CEO of Capital Area United Way and Christy Reeves Executive Director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation.

The summit is being presented by MetroMorphosis, a not for profit organization and made possible through community donations and corporate sponsorships. Chili Cook-Off benefit for Recovery Residence in Shreveport

Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser to purchase a RECOVERY RESIDENCE in Shreveport; Sept 27th in the front parking lot of 820 JORDAN street, call 318-946-8157.

Live music, face-painting, CRAFTERS and ARTISANS can set up a booth for $25.  Entry fee to enter your chili recipe is $25, and admission to JUDGE and sample is $10!
