How to Jumpstart Your Social Media Initiatives

Posted By Matt Craven, Greater Giving, Thursday, January 23, 2014

We know how intimidating social media can be. Check out these tips from today's Greater Giving blog to help you start out - plus, learn how to get the most out of your current social media initiatives.

Let's start with the most important reason for beginning a social media campaign: to reach more potential donors, more effectively.

Unlike a direct mailing, which can end up in a recycle bin, or an email campaign, which can end up in a digital recycle bin, social media allows you to engage with donors on their turf. In a way no other medium can, social media puts your organization in the same space potential donors share with family and friends, and provides an opportunity strike up a more personal relationship.

With the variety of avenues available in social media - from Twitter to Facebook, Instagram to Pinterest - how do you know where to start? Focus your efforts on what works best for you and your organization.

Once you do get your feet wet, read on for some ideas for how to engage donors even more, maintain momentum, and keep your content fresh.
