This series of three workshops will be led by James T Stodd, SPHR who is the Principal and Managing Director of JT Stodd & Associates.  Jim has over 30 years of experience in designing and managing compensation programs for nonprofit organizations.  His experience includes serving with leading consulting firms such as Ernst & Young, LLP and the Hay Group as well as serving as the chief human resource officer of three large nonprofit organizations where he was responsible to the CEO and the Board for all compensation and employee benefit practices.

Jim is also a LANO corporate member as well as a member of LANO’s Consulting Partnership.  In addition to his consulting practice, Jim teaches courses in Human Resource Management and Organizational Leadership on a part-time basis at both Louisiana State University and the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

This first module in the series will focus on the foundations of base pay/salary management programs and be of tremendous value to senior executives, HR leaders and those responsible for salary administration.

The objective of this session will be to equip you with the necessary knowledge to establish, maintain and strategically alter your base pay/salary program to best achieve your nonprofit’s unique objectives regarding cost management, market competitiveness and equitable compensation amongst your workforce.

Topics to be covered include the necessity of sound base salary management systems and practices, detailed steps on how to establish and maintain appropriate base pay/salary structures and administrative guidelines, and alternative pay administration strategies that will help you better attract and retain the talent necessary to meet your human resource objectives and requirements.

In today’s "no margin…no mission” environment it is critically important that nonprofit organizations get the most "bang” for each dollar spent on staff compensation.  This is achieved by rewarding and retaining those who best contribute to attaining the organization’s mission while minimizing unnecessary fixed-cost and administrative overhead.

This series includes three modules, each approximately 90 minutes in length, designed to cover the gamut of compensation issues challenging nonprofits today, and help those organizations provide compensation programs that are both strategically progressive and cost effective.
