The Board Calendaring session is designed to help Board Chairs and Executive Directors look at important meeting agenda items that might be missing from their current calendars. Most of us work from one board meeting to the next with little thought or planning of future meeting conversations. Too much time is spend on reports and discussing trivial items. Here are some of the sample agenda items we will be calendaring.

·       Board Nominations

·       Board Evaluation

·       Slate of Officers and Election of Officers

·       Insurance Review

·       Approval of 990 before filing

·       Approval of Annual Budget

·       ED Annual Review

This outlined process is very helpful in organizing the work of the board, as well as helping the ED and the Chair grasp length and frequency of board meetings. It answers such questions as:

·       Are we meeting frequently enough or too frequently?

·       Are our board meetings too long or too short?

·       Due to lack of time and planning, are we missing important items for discussion?

·       Do we spend most of our time talking about the future or the past?

Participants will leave this session with a calendar template of outlined board meetings for the year. All templates will be provided. Please bring a laptop and all agendas from the previous year.

This session will also include a template and plan for Nonprofit Committee Building Structure. This will move committee productivity to the next level.

Please RSVP with the number of people attending from your organization. This is a great session for board chairs and executive directors to attend together.
