Charmaine Caccioppi and Kim Sport, United Way’s Chief Operating Officer and Chair of its Public Policy committee, will share data about the most vulnerable members of our state, tell stories of struggles and successes in Baton Rouge as they work with volunteers to engage legislators in their work around eliminating poverty, and inform attendees about how they can personally affect issues they care about through advocacy.

Session topics will include:

  • Introduction to ALICE and the ALICE Report
  • Guidance on "how to advocate"
  • Information on how to learn more about specific issues 
  • 2016 United Way Public Policy Agenda Details with Background Information / Data defending each item
  • Successes seen in the 2016 Legislative Session
