Three time-limited sources of nonprofit program and general operating revenue are currently available to Louisiana charities through state and national funds.

The Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations provides information about these and other periodical funding opportunities through its online Community Calendar and Member News & Events blog.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for $5 million to conduct a School Turnaround AmeriCorps initiative. LANO Member, The Volunteer Louisiana Commission in the Office of the Lt. Governor, encourages all eligible organizations to strongly consider this opportunity due to its very short application window:

  • A Notice of Intent to Apply is due Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 5 pm EST. Failure to submit a Notice of Intent to Apply will render an applicant ineligible to apply.
  • Applications are due Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 5 pm EST.

Louisiana nonprofits that suffered a decline in revenue during 2010 are eligible this year to make claims on a nearly $8 billion fund established to mitigate economic damages due to the BP Oil Spill. The law firm of Kahn Swick & Foti, LLC, a LANO member, will host a free luncheon at Gino's Restaurant in Baton Rouge this Friday, March 15, to provide LANO members with information and procedures regarding the BP Oil Spill Claims process.
