LANO's Community Leaders program, which trains and places dedicated professionals for service on local nonprofit Boards, received praise and recognition from one of its current participants in yesterday's Shreveport Times.

An excerpt of the editorial by guest columnist Mike Bailey and a link to the full article follows.

The Community Leaders program has been operating with great success under the leadership of LANO North Director Kay Irby since 2006. LANO is now working to bring the program to cities statewide through a variety of public and private partnerships.

For more information on this program and how LANO can bring it to your community, contact Kay Irby at 318-865-5510 ext 1 or Kellie Chavez Greene at 225-929-5266 ext 212.

The board is the group that makes decisions, sets goals and oversees the work of the director and staff.

"Because every nonprofit relies on committed and knowledgeable board members to provide oversight and support the organization's mission, a source of qualified volunteers for board service is crucial. This is where the Community Leaders Program comes in..."
