BATON ROUGE-- Louisianans from across the state will gather on the front steps of the state capitol to make their voice heard and urge legislators to adopt a budget that includes new revenues to fund education, human services, health care, and other vital services.

Better Choices for a Better Louisiana—a broad coalition organizations representing more than a half-million people in the state—recently returned from a statewide tour where they unveiled an ambitious legislative agenda, calling for moratoriums on all new tax breaks while 441 tax exemptions are reviewed, and revenue measures that will close the $1.6 billion budget gap.

Better Choices for a Better Louisiana advocates for a balanced, transparent approach to solving Louisiana’s fiscal crisis rather than relying solely on short-sighted cuts to services needed by working families. The coalition believes the state cannot sustain another deep budget cut before risking serious, long-term damage to the state and its people.
