LANO Survey Seeks to Chart Course for Next Generation of Nonprofit Leaders

LANO has published a report summarizing the results of its 2011 Nonprofit Talent Development Survey, conducted earlier this year. The goal of the report is to initiate discussion and planning in advance of a predicted significant shortfall in nonprofit leadership over the next 5-10 years.

In the spring of 2011, LANO teamed up
with the Colorado-based nonprofit capacity development group, Pathfinder Solutions (PFS), to study and expand nonprofit employment opportunities, the growing field of "cause careers.”

This project involved a statewide survey of nonprofit professionals. Responses came from nearly 400 nonprofit and foundation employees working in nearly half the parishes in Louisiana, with initial results first shared at LANO's 2011 Annual Conference, Leadership Makes the Difference.

Survey questions sought to illuminate the inspirations and experiences of individuals employed in the field, and as well to determine the sector’s ability to receive, develop and retain good people.

Please view the interactive video* introduction below, which contains summary data on survey results and a copy of the full report in PDF. Your comments and questions are welcome. Please send them to Dr. Cory Sparks, Director of LANO's New Orleans office, at
