Louisiana start-up company and new LANO member, Connect for a Cause, has been recognized during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week and will compete tomorrow for a $100,000 capital investment in a unique online fundraising tool it plans to launch within a month.

Connect for a Cause will provide nonprofits a way to market individual meetings with their executives, Board members and prominent donors through a system of online public auction. This novel form of business networking can generate revenue for a nonprofit while fostering advantageous connections and new partnerships.

According to LANO's Vice President for Public Relations, Matt Mullenix, Connect for a Cause fills a new niche by recognizing the value of high-profile community leaders who support nonprofits and providing a means "to harness that power directly to the benefit of the nonprofits they support."

Capping off a week that showcased new business ventures in New Orleans, the 1st annual Big Idea challenge will be held Friday, March 16th at Manning's restaurant

Presented by IBERIABANK, the event will feature 19 of New Orleans’ most promising startup ventures and a celebrity judging panel. A live audience will cast ballots for the best entrepreneur, and the winner will receive up to $100,000 in seed funding to help grow their business.

New Orleans Entrepreneur Week is sponsored by The Idea Village, a nonprofit organization founded in 2000 with a mission to identify, support and retain entrepreneurial talent in New Orleans.
