Federal Student Aid, an office of the U.S. Department of Education, helps all eligible individuals benefit from federally funded financial assistance for education beyond high school.

Each year, Federal Student Aid distributes more than $150 billion in the form of grants, loans and work-study to help individuals pay for college.

These funds can be used to help pay for eligible expenses at a wide variety of postsecondary educational institutions, including community colleges, vocational schools and traditional four-year colleges.

LANO members who support education and youth programs are encouraged to learn more about funding opportunities and to share them with their constituencies.

You can listen to a webinar to increase your understanding of the FAFSA application process; or send the link to students to introduce them to the form. Visit and click on "FAFSA Information" to find the webinar.

In-depth, half-day workshops are held in many locations for those helping students with the financial aid process. At, click on the "National Training for Counselors and Mentors" logo to learn more and to find out whether the training is available in your area.
